Atlanta, GA — The African American Media & Book Collective (AAMBC), led by cultural curator and publishing executive Tamika Jamison (formerly Newhouse), has been awarded a Community Cultural Development Grant as part of the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) Fiscal Year 2026 Municipal Support for the Arts (MSA) Organizational Grant Program.

The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs announced the FY26 grant recipients as part of its continued investment in Atlanta’s vibrant arts and culture ecosystem. These competitive grants support nonprofit organizations and artists whose work strengthens communities, advances equity, and contributes to the city’s creative economy.

The Community Cultural Development Grant recognizes AAMBC’s long-standing commitment to amplifying Black voices in literature, media, and storytelling through nationally recognized programming, author development initiatives, and community-centered cultural experiences. Under Tamika Jamison’s leadership, AAMBC has become a trusted platform for connecting writers, creatives, and audiences while fostering literacy, legacy-building, and creative sustainability.

“This investment from the City of Atlanta affirms the importance of storytelling as a tool for cultural preservation and community empowerment,” said Tamika Jamison, Founder and Executive Director of AAMBC. “Atlanta has long been a home for bold creativity and Black innovation. This support allows us to deepen our impact, expand access, and continue building spaces where stories are not only told — but honored.”

The FY26 funding cycle includes awards through both the Municipal Support for the Arts (MSA) Organizational Grant Program and the Contracts for Arts Services (CAS) Individual Artist Grant Program, reinforcing the City of Atlanta’s dedication to sustaining a thriving and equitable arts environment. Through these initiatives, OCA provides critical resources to organizations and artists whose work enriches Atlanta’s cultural landscape and strengthens neighborhood-based creative engagement.

With this grant, AAMBC will continue to develop programming that uplifts Black writers, supports cultural dialogue, and expands opportunities for creative participation throughout the city.
